How to Create Posts for Yarm Motorcycling Club Using Email

Posting to the club website is now as simple as sending an email. If you can write an email, you can write a post — no logging in, no menus, no stress.

This guide shows you how to format your article so it appears neatly on the site in the right category.

 

🏍️ What Posts Are Best Used For

Posts are ideal for short articles, updates, discussion topics, recommendations, and quick stories.

Longer write‑ups — such as tour reports — will be placed in a dedicated section under the Rides menu.

 

🧱 What Every Article Needs

A good post has a simple structure:

• Title

• Category

• Main image

• Introduction (your hook)

• Body text

• Summary or sign‑off

Don’t worry — you don’t need to be a writer. Natural, friendly text works perfectly.

 

✉️ Sending Your Post

All posts are created by emailing:

articles@yarmmotorcycleclub.co.uk

Your email becomes your article.

 

🗂️ Categories

There are six posting categories:

• [Members] – Members‑only discussions

• [For Sale] – Items you’re selling

• [Wanted] – Items you’re looking for

• [Local Routes] – Ride routes you recommend

• [Local Venues] – Cafés, pubs, meetups, biker‑friendly spots

• [Back Page] – Musings, interesting facts, product recommendations

Back Page entries will also appear in a new section on the home page.

 

🧭 How to Format the Email Subject

The email subject line gives the Title of the Article but also tells the system where your post belongs.

It must start with the category in square brackets, followed by your article title.

Example: [For Sale] Large Gents BMW Textile Jacket – Hardly Used

The system will only recognise categories inside square brackets, so take care with spelling and punctuation. If the brackets or wording are wrong, the post may not appear.

 

📸 Adding Images

• The first image you attach becomes the main image for the article.

• Any additional images will appear where you place them in the body text.

Tip: Put your main image at the top of your email so it appears correctly on the website.

Image size: Please crop images to landscape 4:5 or 16:9 if possible.

Saving club storage costs: If you can, run your images through tinypng.com before sending — it reduces file size without losing quality.

📝 Writing the Body of Your Post

Opener

Write 3–4 lines to set the scene. Many people find it easier to write this after finishing the main text.

Sections

Short paragraphs make your post easier to read. Adding photos between sections also helps break up the text and keeps readers engaged.

Summary / Sign‑Off

Finish with a reflection, a thank‑you, or a quick summary.

 

🔚 Final Notes

• All posts are approved by Web Admin.

• Unsuitable content will be removed without explanation.

• If Web Admin feels your post fits better in a different category, it may be moved — you’ll be informed.
